The manufacturers provide the screws and hardware with your shipped product, but It’s not feasible for manufacturers to include screws that will work for all applications. If you're mounting the product to a surface other than wood or drywall, you may need to provide your own screws.

What blinds are the most energy efficient?

Vertical or horizontal slat-type window blinds are more effective at reducing summer heat gain rather than winter heat loss. If you want the most energy efficient window covering, we suggest cellular shades, specifically double cell blackout. If you prefer to have the slat option to open your blinds, but want the energy efficiency of cellular shades, try our insulating blinds.

What type of blinds are the best for doors?

Most blinds that you would use on a standard window can also be used on most doors. However, the thinner types such as 3/8" cellular shades, 1/2" aluminum blinds, or 1" wood blinds look best.

What can I use for a sliding/patio door?

Vertical blinds work great for covering these large openings. You could also choose a vertical cellular for added energy efficiency.

What is the difference between a solar shade and a roller shade?

Solar shades are a type of roller shade made of fabric woven tight enough to block out some sunlight but are open enough to see through. They come in a range of openness from 0-25%. The smaller the number the less open and the less you will be able to see through the shade. The higher the number the more open so the better the view and more light will pass through.

What is the difference between faux wood and composite blinds?

When talking about blinds, it's pretty common for people to use the terms "composite" and "faux wood" interchangeably. In some sense it's true: a composite blind could be considered a type of faux wood blind. But all faux wood blinds are not composites. The true difference between the two comes down to material. Most composite blinds are made of a mixture of wood pulp and synthetics--PVC or other plastic resins. Non-composite faux wood blinds are PVC only. Composite blinds are also lighter in weight than their PVC counterparts, making it easier to raise and lower the blind.

Why would I want to pay more for real wood blinds versus composite or faux wood?

There are many variables to consider when choosing between real wood vs. wood alternative blinds. Faux wood blinds weigh significantly more than real wood blinds, making them susceptible to mechanical failures after years of use. The wider and longer the blind, the more likely the tilt or lift mechanisms are to fail in time, in comparison to wood blinds. Additionally, there is a smaller width between ladder cords on faux wood blinds (this is due to the heavier weight that needs supporting). If you're opting for decorative tapes, there are more cords to cover, so it may not look the way you envision. Hardwood blinds also have a more high-end visual appeal. Stained slats highlight the grains and painted slats have a sleek appeal that works well with modern design schemes. As long as the blind isn't exposed to high temperatures or high humidity, they're sure to last a while.
