Graber Sun Up/Sun Down Cellular Shades combine two cellular fabrics in a single window treatment, giving you greater control over natural light, privacy, and comfort throughout the day. By pairing fabrics with different opacity levels, you can easily transition from softly filtered daylight to greater privacy and room darkening without needing two separate window treatments.
A popular configuration combines a sheer, semi-sheer, or light-filtering fabric with a blackout fabric. The movable midrail allows you to adjust how much of each fabric is displayed, giving you the flexibility to adapt your windows as lighting and privacy needs change from morning to night.
Like traditional Graber Cellular Shades, Sun Up/Sun Down shades feature honeycomb-shaped cells that help trap air at the window and reduce heat transfer. This combination of adaptable light control, insulating performance, and clean styling makes them an excellent choice for bedrooms, living rooms, home offices, nurseries, and other multipurpose spaces.

HOW SUN UP/SUN DOWN SHADES WORK

Sun Up/Sun Down shades feature two separate cellular fabric sections divided by a movable midrail. This configuration allows you to change which fabric covers the window depending on the amount of light and privacy you want.
For example, a lighter upper fabric can be used during the day to soften incoming sunlight while keeping the room bright. When stronger privacy or room darkening is needed, the blackout section can be positioned across the window.
You can also position the shade so portions of both fabrics are visible, allowing you to fine-tune the balance between natural light and privacy throughout the day.

LIGHT CONTROL & PRIVACY

Sheer – Allows the greatest amount of natural light while providing minimal privacy.
Semi-Sheer – Softens incoming sunlight while providing slightly more privacy than sheer fabrics.
Light Filtering – Diffuses sunlight and provides moderate privacy while keeping the room naturally bright.
Blackout – Blocks incoming sunlight and provides maximum privacy and room-darkening performance.

Sun Up/Sun Down shades are especially useful when combining a lighter-opacity fabric with blackout fabric, providing different levels of light control within one shade.
CELL SIZE & FABRIC COMBINATIONS
Sun Up/Sun Down Cellular Shades have specific fabric and cell-size compatibility requirements to ensure proper operation.

9/16" Single Cell – 9/16" single cell fabrics can only be combined with another 9/16" single cell fabric.
3/4" Single Cell – Can be combined with either 3/4" single cell or 1/2" double cell fabric.
1/2" Double Cell – Can only be used as the bottom fabric. Two 1/2" double cell fabrics cannot be combined together.
1 1/4" Single Cell – Not available with Sun Up/Sun Down.

Fabric availability, opacity combinations, and compatible cell sizes may vary by selected collection.
ENERGY PERFORMANCE

Graber Cellular Shades are designed with honeycomb-shaped cells that create insulating air pockets at the window. This construction helps reduce the transfer of heat and cold through the glass, improving comfort throughout the year.
Choosing cellular fabric for both sections of a Sun Up/Sun Down shade allows you to maintain the insulating benefits of cellular construction while gaining the flexibility of two different opacity levels.
For customers prioritizing insulation, compatible double-cell fabric can be selected as the bottom fabric to provide additional insulating performance.

CORDLESS LIFT

Sun Up/Sun Down Cellular Shades feature cordless operation for a clean appearance and convenient everyday use.
The movable rails allow you to transition between the two fabrics and adjust the shade based on your preferred level of light and privacy. For smooth, even operation, the shade should be operated where the rails can be comfortably reached by hand.

COLOR-COORDINATED RAILS
Sun Up/Sun Down shades feature coordinated rails designed to complement both selected fabrics.

Headrail – Coordinates with the top fabric.
Midrail – Coordinates with the top fabric.
Bottomrail – Coordinates with the bottom fabric.

This allows the two-fabric design to maintain a clean, intentional appearance even when contrasting colors or opacity levels are selected.
FABRIC-WRAPPED RAIL OPTION

For an upgraded designer appearance, fabric-wrapped rails are available with cordless Sun Up/Sun Down shades in select fabric collections.
When fabric-wrapped rails are selected, all applicable rails on the shade are wrapped to create a more seamless look.
Based on available product specifications, this option is offered with select Splendor, Sanctuary, and Champagne Toast fabrics. Availability may vary by fabric selection and current collection.

ROOM-DARKENING OPTIONS

Room-darkening side channels may be available for compatible Sun Up/Sun Down configurations using select 3/4" single cell and 1/2" double cell fabrics.
Side channels help reduce the amount of light entering around the sides of the shade and can provide improved light control when paired with blackout fabric.
Availability depends on the selected fabric combination, cell sizes, shade dimensions, and mounting configuration.

Custom-Made Product – Each Graber Sun Up/Sun Down Cellular Shade is custom manufactured to the measurements, fabrics, colors, cell sizes, mounting style, and options selected when ordering.
Two Compatible Fabrics Required – Sun Up/Sun Down shades use two cellular fabrics, and not all cell sizes or fabrics can be combined.
1/2" Double Cell Placement – 1/2" double cell fabric can only be used as the bottom fabric. Two 1/2" double cell fabrics cannot be combined.
1 1/4" Single Cell Exclusion – 1 1/4" single cell fabric is not available with Sun Up/Sun Down.
Multiple Shades on One Headrail – Sun Up/Sun Down is not available with multiple shades on one headrail.
Inside Mount Deduction – For inside mount applications, a 3/8" factory deduction is taken from the overall ordered width.
Size Limitations – Sun Up/Sun Down Cordless Lift generally ranges from 15" to 96" wide and 12" to 86" high. Exact limits may vary by fabric and cell size.
Fabric Availability – Maximum shade width can be affected by the width of the selected fabric.
Light Gaps – Inside mount shades may have slight light gaps because of factory deductions and operating clearances.
Option Compatibility – Side channels, fabric-wrapped rails, fabric combinations, and other options may have additional compatibility requirements.

Original defects in materials or workmanship for as long as the original purchaser owns the product (unless shorter periods are noted below), assuming the product was properly installed
All internal mechanisms, components, and brackets
For three (3) years from the date of purchase: operating cords, pleated shades without looped tape, 2" horizontal vinyl blinds slats, and vertical blinds vanes
For five (5) years from date of purchase: motorization components and accessories (batteries not included), draperies, fabric covered cornices and valances, soft shades and accessories, exterior solar shades (provided they are fully raised during inclement weather and windy conditions)
Repairs under this warranty will be made with like or similar parts

Not Covered by the Warranty

Normal wear and tear
Damage caused by abuse, accidents, alterations, misuse; failure to follow instructions for measurement, installation, use, cleaning, or maintenance
Discoloration, fading, cracking, shrinking, or stretching caused by long exposure to direct sunlight
Slight color variation; natural variations in color, grain, or weave of natural materials
Slight warpage of wood blinds or shutters; excessive warpage caused by high humidity
Shipping or labor costs incurred by taking product down, re-measuring, or re-installation
Unfinished cornices and valances; Palladian shelves
Fabric used for “Customer's Own Material” orders
