Select a mount type:
Inside mount blinds and shades are mounted inside the window frame. This option provides a clean, custom look and is considered the most popular choice. This is a great option if you do not wish to cover the window moldings.
Outside mounted blinds and shades are mounted outside the window, on your wall or molding. This option can make a window appear larger. It is also a solution if the window does not meet the depth requirement for an inside mount
Do you need any special mounting hardware?
Spacer Blocks are used with mounting brackets to provide additional space between the mounting surface and the blind. Spacer blocks are used in certain outside mount applications where there is raised trim, molding, or window framing.
Extension Brackets are sometimes needed to install outside mount blinds over raised trim or window framing

NOTE:
Due to the weight, we recommend that blinds wider than 72" be made as a 2 blinds or 3 blinds on one headrail. Dividing a large blind into two or three smaller ones makes it much easier to operate, and will extend the life of the lifting mechanism.
Please note, there will be a small gap (about 1/2") between each of the segments of the blind.
You may purchase your selection as a single headrail if you prefer. Please select from the 3 choices offered.

Measuring: Inside Mount
- Always measure each window you plan to cover. Windows of different sizes can appear deceptively similar.
- Use a steel / metal tape measure for accuracy.
- Record measurements to the nearest 1/8" of an inch. Make sure you clearly indicate width from the height. It's very easy to accidentally transpose measurements.
- Blinds installed on windows near wall or baseboard heaters must clear the heaters by 12" above and 6" to the sides
IMPORTANT: Measure the actual window opening size. Please do not make deductions. Our factory will take all necessary allowances to ensure proper headrail fitting.
- STEP 1 – Find the width: Measure the opening across the top, where the headrail is to be installed, from inside of window frame on left to inside of window frame on right. Round the measurement down to the nearest 1/8".
- STEP 2 – Find the height: Measure from the inside top of the opening on the left, at the center, and on the right to the sill; to the closest 1/8". Use the shortest dimension.
Considerations for choosing an inside mount
Inside mount blinds and shades are mounted inside the window frame. This option provides a clean, custom look and is a great option if you do not wish to cover the window moldings.
Although inside mounts are a popular choice, there are a few things to consider before choosing an inside mount.
Frame Depth: Inside mount blinds and shades require a minimum mounting depth within your frame. This number varies by window covering type and manufacturer. Review the product info / specs tab for more information. If your window frame isn't deep enough for the style you've chosen, an outside mount is recommended.
Obstacles: Obstacles such as window handles or cranks can interfere with the operation of your inside mount treatment. If your window has any type of obstacle, consider choosing an outside mount.
Squareness: For inside mount your window should be square, if not, your treatment may not hang or operate properly. Check for squareness by Measuring diagonally in both directions. If measurements differ by more than 1/2", consider choosing an outside mount.
Light Gap: A small deduction in width is taken by the factory to allow for proper operating clearance when mounting inside. This causes a small gap on each side of the window covering affecting the blind or shade's ability to darken a room. For optimal light control, outside mount is recommended or you may add a secondary window treatment such as draperies to hide the light gap.

IMPORTANT: For outside mount applications allow the blind to overlap 1 1/2" – 3" on the sides, top, and bottom of the window. You'll need to add this to your measurements.
- STEP 1 – Find the width: Measure the width of the area to be covered at the place where the headrail will be installed to the nearest 1/8". Blind should overlap opening at least 4" on each side to ensure privacy. To maintain the maximum view, allow adequate overlap and consider the stack width.
- STEP 2 – Find the height: Measure the height of the area to be covered round down to the nearest 1/8". Blind should extend at least 3" above and 3" below opening or window moulding.
- NOTE – For installations to the floor, deduct 1/2" from the shortest height for proper clearance.
Considerations for choosing an outside mount
Outside mounted blinds are installed on your wall or molding surrounding the window and can make a window appear larger. It is also a solution when the window is not deep enough for an inside mount.
Surface area above window: Outside mounted blinds and shades require a minimum mounting surface above your window or on the window frame for installation brackets. When choosing an outside mount, make sure you have space for adequate overlap on each side of the window.

Products under 94" in width (or length for vertical blinds) ship free of charge via UPS and/or FedEx from the manufacturing facility located closest to you. Oversized shipments require delivery via freight with a one-time shipping cost of $99.00 per order.
Shutters:
Due to packaging and weight shutters do not ship free. All Shutter orders ship at a flat rate of $70.00 per order.
Commercial Orders:
Commercial orders will be quoted with the cost of shipping.
Alaska & Hawaii
Shipping to Alaska and Hawaii have additional charges and will be quoted at the time the order is placed.
Next day or second day air shipping is available on many, but not all, products at an additional cost. This is quoted when requested.
Risk Free Exchange Policy
Whether you mis-measured or simply changed your mind, if you don't love your custom Levolor® product FOR ANY REASON, we'll exchange it within 30 days of receipt.
Full 10-year Warranty
Your investment will last. If any part of your custom Levolor product breaks or is damaged due to poor workmanship or defect within 10 years of purchase, we'll repair or replace it free of charge.
Terms & Conditions (effective August 1, 2013)
No-Risk Exchange Policy If you wish to exchange any Levolor Custom blind or shade purchased from Blindsmax, please contact our Customer Service Department, toll free 1-888-305-8020 within 30 days of receipt. We will request the order number, date and type of product you wish to exchange. One replacement blind or shade of equal or lesser value will be made and shipped free of charge for any product you wish to exchange. This policy does not cover any additional costs associated with professional installation or uninstallation. Commercial contract orders are not included in this policy. We may require the return of the original product you are exchanging.
Full 10-Year Warranty Coverage Coverage extends to any Levolor Custom Blind or Shade purchased from Blindsmax as long as the product remains in the original window. Levolor will cover the repair or replacement (at our discretion) and shipping costs of any defective Custom Blind or Shade within 10 years of the purchase date. In the event repair is not possible, we will replace the product. This applies to the individual blind or shade, not the full order. Discontinued items or color selections will be replaced with the closest equivalent current product. This policy does not cover any additional costs associated with professional installation or uninstallation. Policy excludes specialty shapes, components, commercial contract orders, orders with waivers and blinds sized over 90". Product that includes the motorized option is covered with the exception of batteries. We may require the return of the original product. This Full 10-Year Warranty supersedes any previously printed versions.
To file a warranty claim, please call 1-888-305-8020 with your product information. This full warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights, which vary from state to state. Some states do not allow limitations on how long a warranty lasts, so the above limitations may not apply to you.
